WOW so much info.

I have been looking at travel bags and have looked at the Dakine Split Roller. Which looks really awesome, and you and Time2Ride rave about it. However what about this burton one. (and my apologies if its been discussed - i got lost)

Dakine

Burton\

Basically Monster travels with me, skis and boards go in one bag and then travel wear in the other. Next trip is europe so its max 23kg (1 bag) each.

Mizu, Its the double deck burton bag.

Its very bright….. yes Its about the look too ya know.

I just wish I could get somewhere to have a look. The drawbacks of living in Jindy and having no patience.. I might just have to wait for Shay to get back to TTR.

I’m not familiar with the double deck!!!!! (rider most likely will be though)

No one in town got one in stock for ya to suss out?????

I’ve got the Burton Double Deck (two actually - my pet rabbit chewed the zip off my first one - long story). Highly recommended, easily the coolest bag on the carousel…

Yeah, now that I’m home that Burton link works and it’s virtually the same bag as mine!!!!!

I have a Gravis, but it is made/owned by Burton, and it is the bomb!!!!! Mrs Mizu has a Gravis as well, and has had hers for about 7 years now, and she takes it everywhere, even when we go camping!!!!!

And now I think of it, both my girls have older versions of the Burton bag as well!!!!!!  teacherboy

They have carted them everywhere, done seasons at the snow, so they lived out of them as well as carted them everywhere else that they have travelled!!!!!

No dramas with any of our gear!!!!!

well i made it to SF via LAX without any excess charges (used my burton wheelie gig bag as my only bag) no once mentioned anything about not putting clothes etc in it. all they cared about was how much it weighed (was 21.5kg, measured it myself prior).

Best thing was the internal flights with Southwest, you do the kerbside chec kin and drop your bags there. no wieghing, no measuring just tag them up and throw them on the trolley.

all in all, Air NZ & Southwest airlines rock.
Anywho im off to get pissed an go to candlestick park to wacth the 49ers destroy the Pittsburgh Steelers

looking at the size for carry-on baggage on the plain that bag will not be suitable ? right..

i went to jet star website and they dimensions say H 56cm W 36cm D 23cm

also with jet star carry-on is 7kg and i have 20kg checking, let says if i have 15 kgs in the snowboarding bag can i add that 5kg on to carry-on and just check in that bag as well and not have any carry-on ?

Are you talking about the burton / dakline bags? Not a chance in hell!

Carry on luggage size is fairly standard around the world (so it fits in overhead lockers), the weight varies a lot depending on airline. I’ve done a lot of travelling and never had my carry-on bag weighed.

The only airline I’ve ever had problems with is Jetstar, but you get that when you pay peanuts…

Hey AJ2

yeah i was talking about Burton, let say if i get the Burton bag and i distribute my kg equally across both bags and i check them in would that be okay ?

do you guys use carry-on bags or do you just check-in both ?

If you have a heavy carry on bag HIDE IT!

I always try not to show it to the staff/draw attention to it.

In New Zealand last year they asked to weigh it and it was over (it was the only bag I had no checked baggage and i think it was 11kg) I told them I would take stuff out and give to my friends… I did not - LOL and no one checked ever again. I have never been asked before.

Lanox - in answer to you question about distributing the weight No you can’t check in two bags and not carry it on. A stupid rule I say! Although as I said hide your carry on and who cares how much it weighs!

Another story. When I flew home from London I had a boot bag which is under the carry on dimensions but fits a shed load in it. Anyway since i was moving home it was pack to the gills with heaps of stuff and i am pretty positive it weighed over 20kg. I was planning on hiding it from any airline staff. Well when rushing around London like a blue arse fly I fell down a flight of stairs and sprained in ankle pretty bad. I was struggling pretty badly at the airport and the friendly guy on the check in desk gave me access to the lounge and organised someone to help me to the gate. That person struggled with my carry on bag but didn’t say a word! Took it all the way on the onto the plane for me!

thanks for that ozgirl…

i guess this could be a silly question, so if you have a snowboarding bag + BURTON WHEELIE DOUBLE DECK BAG, do you guys pay for the KG for burton wheelie and check-in both bags ?
