Death of DC snow

Interesting article on how economy affects the industry. http://www.angrysnowboarder.com/the-death-of-dc-snow/

I read that earlier. Not sure how true it is though. We might have to wait this one out.

Matt Guess (the Angry Snowboarder) really needs to brush up on his writing and research skills. I don’t understand how he expects to be taken seriously in what he evidently thinks is a ‘serious’ blog, when the best he can manage is sophomoric writing and unsubstantiated conjecture?

I call BS on that one TBH, it just doesn’t sound right.  They might consolidate the product line but I doubt they will kill of DC snow in it’s entirety, they have on of the best snow pro teams around.

Yeah, I agree. He just basically manufactures his ‘facts’, in the hope that every once in a while he’ll accidentally stumble across a ‘scoop’, so he can big-note himself.

Look at this paragraph, for example: “Then there’s the whole Mountain Lab compound being up for sale. If you had a private snowboarding facility that you could have your riders research and develop products wouldn’t you try to utilize it for all you can?” If he actually had a clue, he’d already be aware that the DC Mountain Lab was shut down due to local complaints, and had nothing at all to do with financial concerns.

As with most of the unsubstantiated conjecture written on Angry Snowboarder - it’s Guess by name, guess by nature.

All of the Surf/Skate/Snow Industry have been goin through a tuff time due to the GFC + the Internet Shopping Boom!!!!!

But with DC bein backed by it’s HUGE parent company QUICKSILVER, I’m pretty sure that it is in a pretty safe position to ride out the storm!!!!!

And I thought that the Mountain Lab was a private sale, made by Ken Block?????

. . . I thought that the Mountain Lab was a private sale, made by Ken Block?????

Yeah, it was (or ‘is’ - has he found a buyer yet?) his second home.

Not sure if it did sell, but it sure does quash his theory that it was sold due to DC’s financial status!!!!! What would Ken Block’s personal property have to do with the finances of DC!!!!! Ya right Chucky, this guy is a wanker!!!!!

DC had a big demo tent at the top of Whistler yesterday. Just sayin’...

I agree with you, chucky.

It goes with his reviews of boards. He loves companies like Tech Nine (which bring out some pretty shithouse products in my opinion) and said the YES Typo was rubbish (which is a mad board…)

A burning desire to be too cool for school pervades the majority of his website, a disdain for anything popular or mainstream regardless of the merits of the product.  Reminiscent to me of that south park episode about the goth kids who hate everything, disestablishmentarianism rules!

LOL

Unofficial word: the story is pretty much a load of crap instigated by a disgruntled employee.

I don’t think we will be seeing the DC snow program disappear. They are solid for sure.

Hopefully not. But in the latest Sunday in the Park video from TWSnow, I don’t think ikka was riding a DC board.
