Hm yeah, i have heard of dodgy USB sticks that don’t have the amount of RAM they’re supposed to.  Anyway, seems the decent ones aren’t outrageously expensive if bought on sale.

They’re a bit hit and miss like cheap DVD+/-R etc etc!!!!!

I’ve got Kingstons in my GoPro and SanDisk in my DSLR and P&S!!!!! Never missed a beat!!!!!

I would find nothin more dissapointin than gettin home from ya holiday/day on the hill filmin, only to find that ya footage/shots are not!!!!!

You take the risk!!!!!

Avatar

yeah, definitely wouldn’t want to lose your holiday shots.  That link that humding posted had a test tool to verify the card - I’d definitely be running that across any cheapo cards before trusting them.

Avatar

yeah i got stung by one before

claiming 16g USB stick….ended up being a flashed 4g stick

just got to do research of the seller as well as the product with online buying lol

end of the day even good sellers get back stock also though =\

Not worth the risk.

I bought 100 4BG, good quality(MaxiFlash) class6 cards this year. Haven’t had one fail and I’ve used about 40.
It ensured me even if one does fail not everything is lost. I just carry a sharpie and date/time each card.

Buying in bulk got me a very good discount. I’m happy to sell them for $12each.
4GB hold 30mins 1080 video.

Transcend 32gb class 10 sdhc cards for $57 if anyones interested from arc computers parramatta http://www.arc.com.au/pub.php?gid=23434&pid=39879&p=product

Avatar

Pretty sure that Transcend is a bit on the dodgy side, when it comes to reliability!!!!!

Avatar

well it has a lifetime warranty so it must be ok and its class 10

Avatar

just cause it says lifetime warranty and class 10, doesnt mean its any good.
in saying that i have never seen.used one so they could be, but one thing i have leant is that, with cheap/er products, what the product state, is usually far from the truth.

im using it now and it seems to be a GOOD cheap sd card, however some people may want the assurance of a $200 32gb sd card and thats fine. I have used a lot of sd cards, including sandisk ultra and a sony class 4 8gb in my slr atm and to be honest they have all worked the same for me.

I buy stuff from shopping square but a friend taught me a good tip.

If you find stuff from them on ebay you usually get the shipping for free and they ship it much faster!

I waited 6 weeks for headphones but only 5 days for a 16gb micro SD card.

I’ve used a transcend 8 gb sd card in my point and shoot for 2 or 3 years now. no problems at all

sweet, i will have to give transcend a go then. was going to buy an expensive card but now…stuff it!
