New GoPro Hero 2

Avatar

Oh yeah forgot to say that if it’s out at the full extension 97cm, it would have a good feild of view i reckon, it’s just the feel of it on the wrist for a long period that might be a negative factor!!!!!

Again, Azz will be able to add some good feedback on this!!!!! Maybe give him a PM and tell him to have a say in here????? (Actually I’m pretty sure that Azz owns/uses both GoPro and VIO cams as well, so he’d be great to give his opinions on the + & - of both cams!!!!!)

Yep very good point on the counterweight.

The reason I’d picked that one out was the fact it could be compressed down to a pretty short length making it easier to pack away when not in use and the other thing was it’s cheap as i.e <$10

Yeah, the size of it does become a pain in the arse at times, similar to carryin a back pack/camera/etc etc but I find if ya limit the use to say 1 or 2 solid days on the mountain, and then combine it with other clips of the area/shops/accom/etc etc, then ya will find that ya will have the best of both worlds in regards to footage and days of solid ridin!!!!! It kinda forces ya to keep the camera goin when ya CAN’T put it away!!!!!

And if ya with a few people a great way to make the end result more fun and interestin is to share the pole around between each other, with the added bonus that it will give ya a rest from worryin about holdin it all day!!!!!!

Big call Spaz

Yeah, I only just realized that you have tested both the VIO and the GoPro, Warren!!!!!

What’s ya opinion on ease of use?????

Yes mate i have…....

I didn’t like the VIO for a number of reasons….
1. It has a cord that runs to the camera
2. If you wanted to swap with ya mate, you had to change the setup
3. Heavy
4. The battreys are shit house and dont last long
5. I dont like it lol

I could be here for days going on.

point 4. They use AA batteries and have nothing to do with the camera. (If the person who bought the batteries got the wrong ones it’s hardly cameras fault - old rechargeable NiMH don’t last nearly as long as Lithium)

How about point 6. User stuffed up and you didn’t capture any footage - because stop on the remote wasn’t pressed to save it, or files were deleted or, or, or…. Resulting in you not getting to experience the great quality footage vio captures.

But most importantly point 7. The person who supplied you the vio - only 20 minutes earlier had dislocated, fractured bones and ruptured ligaments in his knee and was in no mind-set to explain the best ways to use it or to have it set up correctly before handing it over, (I believe I went to great lengths to correct any issues that came up and I walked several km’s through Thredbo that day (on a busted knee, without pain killers, before getting to the doctor) to give you new batteries (and a spare set), different mounts- to try different set ups and to collect the camera that night and burn a data dvd at your accommodation. Then meet the next morning (because you where unavailable when I got to the accom). i think I charged you $30 for the 24hrs you had the camera?
I only found out days later (when checking memory cards) that your memory card had only a few seconds of footage on it. And have always meant to ask you what happened or why you didn’t tell me there was no footage.

Granted, vio does have flaws. Every product does. Have you never had a problem with GoPro (fogging, lost footage, flat battery)?

My criticism to your post Warren, is that you are comparing vio’s product against something that wasn’t available until 12 months later and even what they released then was replaced by 3 newer models before the GoPro you used.

Whaaattttttttttt…........
Dude are you joking or what????????

Days before i got to Thredbo i rang you asking about the setup and can that i hire it off you. I only hired it for one day and thank god i did, cause you talked to me for about 30mins about it cheers for that,  miss pops, fatima and flying gurnad were even there.
But why would the battery go dead after two runs??? Didn’t you charge them??? Or were you too busy picking up all these chicks we here about???

The Vio camera you gave me was shithouse i even came back to you about it and wanted to change it, but you just gave me another battery…
I even left meesages on your phone for the day i was meant to pick it up but couldn’t get in contact with you for three days…. Sounds professional…....
It was taped to a ski pole with duck tape and so was the connection to wire to camera!
And i wanted to pay you the full money for it but you said no?????? I just wanna say thanks spaz, cheers mate!

I feel so sorry that you had to walk that far mate, it upsets me knowing that you are hurt and going out on a limb for me. Dude i told you were we were staying, so that makes you look like a dick…. Next time get a wheelchair or cab!!!!!!
Try not to do the ligaments in your fingers replaying back to this!!!!!!!!

thanks for the awesome pics and explanations, mizu.  Can you tell me what camera field of view setting you were using?  Was it the wide angle 170 degrees (did the GoPro 1 do that wide?)

All of my edits seen on here are at 960p that gives a 170? FOV!!!!!

I use the HERO HD, but have never even used the 1080p on it yet as I’ve found that the wider angle is better for editing close to out of view shots!!!!!

I must try it one day though!!!!!  LOL
