Yep, the right information is is very important, especially when marketing can be so misleading. It doesn’t help that 90% of reviews are lifted directly from GoPro’s press release.
Mizu, you seem to have missed copy&pasting; the availability date:
Wi-Fi BacPac™ + Wi-Fi Remote Combo Kit
Model Number: AWIFI-001
Available February, 2012And what will this piece of kit cost? Can it be used with the/a waterproof housing?
The lcd bacpac - $125
Anti fog inserts - $22
Spare battery - $39
SD card - $15-$200The wifi bacpac&remote; will be well above $125
Suddenly a GP2 is going to cost +$600 compared to VIO $649
you’re right, although you’d still have to buy the spare battery and SD card for the Vio. I guess it depends what you want to do with it. It looks to me like the Vio has a bit better IQ than the GP Hero 2, but the form factor looks like a bit of a hassle unless you’re only using it as a helmet cam.

Ok this is 9 pages and 120+ posts so I’m gonna ask for a round up ^^
I am planning on buying the GoPro Hero 2 but since its pretty expensive it can’t hurt to ask multiple opinions :p
So does anyone have any critics on it? or is it a must have? from what I know and have seen it’s the best price/value product I have ever seen
I think the last page of that review I just posted sums it up in terms of features of the various cams - it’s pretty much a case of which features are more important to you. What it leaves out is the big question of image quality vs those other cams. There is some evidence that the Hero 2 still has oversaturated colours. The review also doesn’t cover the Vio camera which Spaz mentioned, and is a higher-end option. Oh one other thing, it seems you will most likely need the anti-fog inserts for the GoPro if you go that way.

Thanks for the link mate, just read through it all. Got to the summary page and got really excited hoping to see some comparisons like they had done between the hero/hero2 earlier in the review only to find they didn’t have any argh!!!!
Still a very detailed review though.

Now that’s a review ^^
Ok fur realz:
Since I don’t need some high-end thing like MudHoney mentioned and I am no pro so oversaturated colors won’t bother me ^^
Conclusion Hero numéro duo her I come :D
Mudhoney, the vio uses AA batteries and comes with a set ready to go. It also comes with a SDcard. There is nothing extra needed. It’s the cam I have used for all my pov footage and by far the best head am under $1000
Hm ok, but unless it’s at least a 16GB card I’d be looking to upgrade that. I’d probably look at the Vio if I was only interested in a helmet cam, but I would like to be able to use it hand-held without looking like a weirdo.
Are there also sticks to put a GoPro on?
Yeah you can easily build one yourself with a skipole/pvc pipe etc, ask mizu I’m pretty sure he’s built one.
The option I will probably take if I get the gopro is purchase the additional tripod mount kit and use it with a monopod. Be sure to check with spaz as he can get the accessories (I know he mentioned a drift monopod previously) as well as the cameras for a special BWM price.
GoPro have also released an extendable pole.
I intended to go into manufacturing PoleCams last summer. I don’t see any available time soon to take up this venture but I am happy to build them for individuals.
