Perisher ~ Whats happening in the future.

Hopefully they just build the village as soon as, then this will encourage an expansion of on snow accommodation, and this in return should ignite some more competitive rates for stayin on the hill!!!!!

I think if they are upgrading all this infrastructure, and they expect everyone to take the ski tube they should upgrade the ski tube a bit too.
have those trains changed since the 1980s?

I guess its probably not one of their prioritys seeing as it appears to be getting the job done. even though it did break down at least twice this year.

You can still see where the Charlottes chair was cut in. Didn’t someone die when it broke down?

Perisher village is still waiting on approval for construction I believe.
Same for what happened with the skitube to the station resort - approval for the line didn’t go through even though PB invested millions on buying the land and building the resort in the hope that it would.

ski tube is long enough as it is don’t need to add another 30mins+ to the trip

chances of development are as likely as Smigs getting the Olympics

it could happen, but doubt it

btw the “vision” pic on the link - the village looks like Keystone resort

It would be faster, because it’s more direct than driving - and it’s not as steep as the other sections.

i hate the tube that much, i had to catch the tube when i worked for perisher and havnt been on it since, why does everyone hate driving unto the mountain?? its so good to get in that car and drive after a long day on the hill

I’m with ya on that one, Rick!!!!!

I hate catchin buses, trains, planes…..........

And that’s also why stayin on snow beats anythin hands down!!!!! Drivin ya own car is second, but only if ya not chillin with drinks on the hill first!!!!!

Same, but there’s something I hate MUCH more - idiots on the road, especially slow/hesitant/selfish drivers to/from snowfields. There’s WAY too many of them on the way to Perisher.

...stayin on snow beats anythin hands down!

True, but I’d rather get 3 or 4 times as many days in per season for the same money.

yeah but have you seen some of the retards that crash on the hill?? would rather slow drivers then someone crashing and therefore not moving at all. imo the more you drive the same roads the faster you go being more comfortable with the roads. but saying that on weekends there are a lot of very slow drivers so i don’t disagree with you at all chucky. but i hardly ever go up on weekends, too busy for me..

not all of us have $1000’s of dollars for on snow accom mizu, my house this season was filled up most weekends, 15+ in a 2 bedroom place, was a very warm place!!

If ya workin then it’s more of a party option stayin in Jindy, as if ya stay on snow ya will save a crap load of cash by not goin out every night!!!!!

And when people are drivin a bit slower cause they aren’t familiar with the roads then that’s a good thing really!!!!!

If ya did the road up to perisher 15kmh slower than ya normally do, you’ll probably find that ya might save 10mins tops!!!!! What’s 10mins in the scheme of things?????

And doubt that stayin on hill is 4 X that of stayin in Jindy, Chucky!!!!!!

the party scene on snow is next level, the man on mondays it goes off!

but our place this year was awesome, it was 10mins past the station in moon bah i think thats how it was spelt and we had no phone reception and no internet, we saved so much money by not going out much and it forced everyone to chat and just have a good time. we could be as loud as possible all night it was an unreal place!!

I reckon I’ve saved way more (and earned more) by living on the hill. Forget the cost of fuel, just count how many cars break down doing that climb each day - repairs are expensive!

Maybe you hitch each day. Pfft, the time spent hitching you could earn +2hrs income. Live out on the Barry way or East Jindy and add another hour of earnings per day.
Then theres the bonus of sliding whenever the opportunity arrives. Then there’s the night life - not always as expensive as everyone says-there are plenty of private parties (or staff drinks). Staff meals save you heaps. And the clientele on holiday tend to open there wallet to befriend a “local”.

It is 4X the expense if you stay in a luxury apartment, or you could share a place like the shred shed. How much was that a week… less than a bed in Jindy sharing a room with 3 others I bet. Or staff accom - I had a bed in Smiggs for my first two seasons, my third job scored me my own room which I soon enticed a bed mate into - well worth any expense (and I followed up that effort several times over the years).

From someone with 13 Aussie snow season - my experience is that there IS NO COMPARISON (or financial benefit) to staying in Jindy.

Many of the “retards that crash on the hill” are the same “slow/hesitant/selfish drivers” I was referring to. It’s rare that speed alone is the actual cause of accidents - the real dangers on our roads are inattentive/inexperienced/incompetent drivers. Also, many accidents occur when drivers get overly frustrated by slow/hesitant/selfish drivers and end up taking unnecessary risks.

Some of the worst I’ve seen is when driving to Perisher in the spring. Bone dry, wide open roads with perfect visibility on a bright, sunny day - and still these morons insist on nanna driving!!! They get it in their tiny little heads that they’re ‘in the snow’, so they instinctively put their ‘mental L plates’ on. The worst is when you finally get an opportunity to overtake them, and they look at you like you’re some kind of menace to society simply for wanting to drive at a reasonable, safe, appropriate speed tor the conditions!!!
