Hi all,
Im spending a month in whistler arriving late february. It’s my first time in canada. Im thinking of booking at the hi whistler hostel. Does anyone have any feed back about hi whistler hostel, or any other better places to say?
Welcome to Boardworld, b milard.
Are you travelling alone? I don’t know anyone who’s stayed there, but it looks really nice and four people per room isn’t too bad at all. It looks like you will spending $39 a night which isn’t cheap, but this is Whistler - nothing is cheap.
Just to compare, you could look at the Southside Hostel. One of my friends stayed there and he had something like 10 people in his room and it wasn’t in the best condition. http://www.southsidelodge.com/southside.php
If the prices compare, which I think they do, I would take the HI Hostel for sure.

Rider’s Blog: Day 2
Temps stayed cold overnight and we received another 10cm of snow. It was -4 degrees in the valley today and -8 at the Roundhouse, so the snow quality was excellent. The sun was out in full force and it was really a beautiful day out there.
Shaner came over in the morning and we went up to burn a few fast laps. He had to leave early today as he is flying to Hawaii for a few days. The snow was significantly better than yesterday, with a nice fresh layer of powder on top of yesterday’s snowfall.
We did a lap through the steep trees near Harmony and Shane found us some nice hits near the trees. The groomers were in very good shape; fast, fresh, and perfect for carving. It was so nice to put some fast carves into the snow.
They built more of the terrain park overnight. There’s new features in the upper and mid sections. The mid section only has a rail and gap to box. However I’m sure the park will start coming together rather quickly. I resisted the temptation to hit the park today, as I still need to build up strength. I don’t really feel like taking a fall just yet, hehe.
I rode down to the village to see what the ride-out was like. It’s actually in really good shape; they have been grooming it, the cover is good, quite an easy ride-out actually. Creekside ride-out is still similar to yesterday; ungroomed, chunky, not nearly as good as the village ride-out.
Overall, it was a great second day on the mountain. Fresh snow, sun shining, and legs burning. I’m looking forward to finney arriving today (call me, buddy!) and looking forward to more snowboarding. Good times in Whistler!
