nah haven’t heard anything about it? It sounds a bit dodgy to me!?
The Extreme Fat Loss Diet? My god it’s back again for the 58th time this decade ha ha! I’m guessing it’s some variation on a ketosis style diet of high protein and fat and zero carbs or maybe this time it’s live on lemon flavoured water for 2 weeks, drop 8 kgs and then gain back 12 when you start eating again? Sorry I don’t mean to be facetious really but anything diet related that includes the word Extreme usually arouses my suspicions. Feel free to post a link.
hahahahaha!!! TOTALLY agree, and plus they are usually not healthy or good for your body. I was actually REALLY bored and read this page, after you get past the BS at the start, it sounds like it’s pretty well researched. Not sure tho, so I will actually put up a link, if you guys have some time to kill, have a read and tell me what you think. If you guys reccon it sounds good, then awesome, but if not, then please let me know, coz I’d LOVE to not be suckered in so far it sounds pretty good to me…??

Nikky, I just got the whole thing, PM me if you want it.
So has anyone else heard of the Xtreme Fat Loss diet? Any ideas? Opinions? Users?? All about targeting fat while keeping all lean muscle mass apparently
My mates son did that one recently!!!!! He lives in Japan, and did turn into a lean muscle machine…...... until he stopped and then BOOM, back out to worse than before, just like nthn said!!!!!
We all know the real way to lose weight and keep it off, it’s just that we as humans always seem to seek out the quick and easy options, in hope that it will save us from really havin to change the lifestyle that we become sooo accustomed to!!!!!!
Balanced diet, walking and bad things in moderation, combined with a slow and steady weight loss is the key to doin it right!!!!!
Hold on just a sec while I grab another cold one to wash this fried chicken down!!!!! (I do have to walk to the fridge though!!!!)

If you are seriously looking in to doing something like this then I’d suggest this…

A few friends have done it and had good results.
A couple of things you need to remember;
- These kind of diets aren’t pretty, and they are hard work.
- This is all protein, no carbs.
- You should only do these types of diets for a couple of weeks.
Before you even consider doing something like this I’d first take a look at your diet at the moment. Have you worked out your current BMR & TEE? Are you currently eating healthily and at maintenance or are you just eating anything and not actually eating a healthy diet?
If your looking for a quick fix then these types of diets ARE NOT THE ANSWER.
If however your already eating a healthy diet with lots of protein, veggies & fruit at maintenance and your just looking to drop the last couple of kgs quickly THEN look at something like this. Otherwise don’t do it.
Nthn, I think I just PM’d you, although not sure if it worked :S Oh Misu I feel sorry for your friend!! It sucks when you finally start seeing results, then you get fat again! It’s true, we all know how to eat well, but it’s so hard to and you get tired and cranky! lol Thanks for the extra info Tobi, is BMR bodily metabolic rate?? and TEE?? total everyday eating?
I got it Nikky and replied. BMR is Basal Metabolic Rate, TEE is a new acronym for me and I thought I had seen most of em when it came to health and fitness. That diet exercise routine is very complex, I would say overly so but that might appeal to some ppl!
One other thing, ketosis diets can make you feel like dogsballs until you get used to them!

Total Energy Expenditure.
Here’s some extra information on how to calculate. (copied and pasted from another source so excuse the highlighting and bold).
re: macro nutrition requirements (protein, carbs, fat) and calculating BMR.
Taken from http://forum.bodybuilding.com/showthread.php?t=121703981
There are then a number of other formula which calculate BMR:
1. Harris-Benedict formula:
Very inaccurate. It was derived from studies on LEAN, YOUNG, ACTIVE males MANY YEARS AGO (1919). Notorious for OVERESTIMATING requirements, especially in the overweight. IF YOU CAN AVOID IT, DON’T USE IT!
MEN: BMR = 66 + [13.7 x weight (kg)] + [5 x height (cm)] - [6.76 x age (years)]
WOMEN: BMR = 655 + [9.6 x weight (kg)] + [1.8 x height (cm)] - [4.7 x age (years)]
2. Mifflin-St Jeor:
Developed in the 1990s and more realistic in todays settings. It still doesn’t take into consideration the differences as a consequence of high BF%. Thus, once again, it OVERESTIMATES NEEDS, ESPECIALLY IN THE OVERWEIGHT.
MEN: BMR = [9.99 x weight (kg)] + [6.25 x height (cm)] - [4.92 x age (years)] + 5
WOMEN: BMR = [9.99 x weight (kg)] + [6.25 x height (cm)] - [4.92 x age (years)] -161
3. Katch-McArdle:
Considered the most accurate formula for those who are relatively lean. Use ONLY if you have a good estimate of your bodyfat %.
BMR = 370 + (21.6 x LBM)Where LBM = [total weight (kg) x (100 - bodyfat %)]/100
You then multiply these by an ‘activity variable’ to give TEE (total energy expenditure). This Activity Factor is the cost of living and it is BASED ON MORE THAN JUST YOUR TRAINING. It also includes work/lifestyle, sport & a TEF of ~15% (an average mixed diet). Average activity variables are:
1.2 = Sedentary (Little or no exercise + desk job)
1.3-1.4 = Lightly Active (Little daily activity & light exercise 1-3 days a week)
1.5-1.6 = Moderately Active (Moderately active daily life & Moderate exercise 3-5 days a week)
1.7-1.8 = Very Active (Physically demanding lifestyle & Hard exercise or sports 6-7 days a week)
1.9-2.0 = Extremely Active (Hard daily exercise or sports and physical job)
So to convert BMR to a TOTAL requirement: multiply the result of your BMR by the variable you fall into!
How Accurate are they?: Well, although they give rough ball-park figures, they are still ‘guesstimations’ and most people still OVERESTIMATE activity, UNDERESTIMATE bodyfat & end up eating TOO MUCH. So the aim is to use these as ‘rough figures’, monitor your weight/ measurements for 2-4 weeks, & IF your weight is stable/ measurements are stable, you have likely found maintenance.
Bit behind the eight ball here but the “annooss” call made me laugh so hard haha
Went for a 1km swim with the folks this morning, it smashed me!
I hadn’t been for over a year and didnt realise i had become an unfit bastard!
So i have decided to pull my finger out also.
Doing the Mont 24 hr MTB race next March, so that should motivate me to do some training.
cool! Now we’ve got a few people on board trying to get a bit fitter and healthier. Now I’ve gotta go make myself go for a run. afkjsdlkfjsdklj
i’ve dropped 6kg in 2 months with exercise and a high protein/almost zero carb diet…plus i ate too much fruit thinking i was doing the right thing but way too much sugar going into my system…
i am now going into a more sustainable longer term diet (paleo) but still keeping carbs down…
aim is to drop another 3-5kgs and that still has me at the very obese range in my bmi (which is frankly a crock)...
Nice to see so many people getting into it
rain has killed a lot of riding to work, and work in the near future will kill riding - so it will be a lot of swimming - hopefully 5 2km swims a week!!
never done a diet, they are no fun and you can’t ever stop doing them
prefer to try and eat balanced diet/healthier and do more exercise
aim is to drop another 3-5kgs and that still has me at the very obese range in my bmi (which is frankly a crock)...
You often see people that reach their “BMI”, and they look sick!!!!!
