The high roller is bigger than the low roller right?  It’s so damn hard to tell in the small single pics on the snowstore websites!  Anyone got any good deals going at the moment on the High Roller or the Burton Board case?

I normally just have a good back pack, so that way ya have ya hands free to cart ya wheelie bags etc, and can access ya passport etc as ya make ya way through the gauntlet!!!!!

Just gotta make sure that it doesn’t exceed the dimensions as well!!!!!

Standard article
Maximum size:
23 cm x 40 cm x 55 cm
(9 in x 15.5 in x 21.5 in)
Wheels and handles included.

Maximum weight:
10 kg (22 lb)

Burton’s luggage has a lifetime warranty too.
Ive busted a handle once from improper handling by airport staff.
they fixed it with no problem.

my wheelie gig has a large gash on the side rending it useless
I believe the damage was done on the bus trip rather than the plane trip
as i cant be sure whether it was the bus or plane

Burton told me its not manufacturing defect so i cant claim and i should try claim insurance
needless to say that didnt get resolved so im left with $200 a useless piece of crud at home now

oh and the wheels fell off while transferring in Japan so i had to go buy a hex key to fix it up but it was no f00king fun wheeling the damn thing on one wheel for half the trip

so yay Burton long face

ill be sticking to dakine/ogio from now on

So even if im just taking one board in a board bag i have to let them know in advance?

Yeah mate, otherwise I was told that they would charge ya over $300, if ya waited till check in time!!!!!

Ya travel agent might have already done that, but ya can ring direct and get them to note it for ya!!!!!

Call 1300 655 767 Toll Free from Aus!!!!! My agent had skis noted ( hmmm ), and the girl at Air Canada even changed it to Snowboards caused she reckoned that it might have made a difference!!!!! It’s so friggin complex, and they probably wont give a shit when ya rock up, but I just like to have a comeback if they wanna whack some way out charge on me when they know they have ya by the hairy love eggs!!!!!

I have got a burton wheelie gig bag.
I usualy put 2 boards in the bottom (without bindings on)
then i clip my boots into my bindings and lay the boots in the middle section on top of the boards.
I stuff socks and small things into and around the boots, and put gloves and other small items under the tip and tail of the board.
then i usualy have enough room for a few pants and jackets and other clothing on top of the tip and tail of the board.

it usualy comes to a total of 23-25kg which is acceptable for most airlines.
I found that i could fit more stuff in but was restricted by the amount of weight i could carry.

I know Virgin and air New Zealand dont charge anything more than normal baggage rates for that.

No can do with Air Canada, Guido!!!!!

Qantas and JAL didn’t charge us for carryin our boards separately either, when we went to Japan!!!!!

I remember hearin that Air Canada WAS pretty good, but the agent told me that the baggage restrictions did change a couple of years ago!!!!!

Just another way to make their airfares look cheaper, before they tack on the “extras”, I guess?????

Hey Mizu,

You sure Qantas still let you take the gear separately? After your post yesterday I logged in and noted on my booking that i had ski equipment but it said that excess baggage fees would apply if it went over the standard allowance.

The standard is 23kg ONE bag…

checkout auski in melbourne.. I was down there for business last week and had a look whilst I was there.. awesome shop, they’ve got tons of stuff including board bags/cases. All the 2011 stuff was on sale too, I got my wheelie gig for the same price as I can get them for online from the US which was a really good deal. They ship bulky items flat rate to sydney for $15 as well.

So they’re all doin the same trick now hey!!!!! The Bastards!!!!!

They let us a couple of years ago, as long as the combined total didn’t exceed the 23-25kg’s, regardless if they were separate bags!!!!!
