You can get a great deal on 4th/burrard in vancouver, but there is plenty of gear available in Whistler and if you get a season pass you get 20% off in places and if you work for the mountain up to 50% off.

Do I get a T-shirt Jez!?

For sure you do. Just hit me up when you arrive. I have a selection of M, L, and XL, so no problems!

See you over there! shaka

Hey rider, are you gonna be riding this sunday? I’ll be riding saturday and sunday. Do you still have my number?

Yeah, it should be in my phone. I’ll call you as soon as I’ve got credit. I won’t be riding till monday, unfortunately. Looks like there’s more snow on the way!

——————————————-

WHISTLER, BC, November 24, 2011 - Blackcomb Mountain opened today, joining Whistler Mountain which opened six days early on November 18. 4,300 acres and over 4,085 vertical feet of skiing and riding is currently available, more than anywhere else in the world at this time. Currently 13 lifts, one full terrain park line, and a 15 foot half pipe are open.

“We are very excited to open Blackcomb Mountain with such incredible snow conditions and coverage,” explained Doug Macfarlane, Mountain Manager of Whistler Blackcomb. “To be able to offer 4,300 acres in November is really exciting, and offers our guests an amazing experience on both mountains.”

Cumulatively this November, 237cm (7.7 feet) of snow has fallen, surpassing the average November snowfall of 165cm (5.4 Feet). Another 85cm (2.8 feet) of snow is forecasted to fall by Monday.

Seven lifts are currently in operation on Blackcomb Mountain including the Excalibur Gondola, Wizard Chair, Solar Coaster Chair, Excelerator Chair, Catskinner Chair, Crystal Chair and Jersey Cream Chair. The Whistler Village Gondola, Creekside Gondola, Emerald Express, Garbanzo Express and Big Red Express will be running on Whistler Mountain bringing the total lifts in operation to 13, including the PEAK 2 PEAK Gondola. Skiing and riding will available right to the village this weekend, one of the earliest dates that a ski out has been available.

With all of the snow, early season conditions still apply. It is extra important all mountain signage is obeyed and guests stay within the marked operational boundary. Please be aware of rocks and other hazards below the snow surface. Our Patrol and Operations teams are hard at work to get more terrain safely opened as quickly as possible.

Kind of random thing to post, but ever since I decided to go to Whistler (Shall be there for a year beginning Feb 2012) I’ve had several people say the same negative things. A few different people have said that Whistler is suuuper clicky, and that everyone is pretty up them selves, and that given I’m not arriving till Feb, I could find it hard to make friends and settle in.

Being part of this community makes that hard to believe cos everyone on here seems so friendly and inclusive.

Should I be worried or are they just being dicks?

also, is it best to get phone stuff sorted in Van or can that all be done easily in Whistler?

Hey jacs,

I have lived in Whistler my whole life and love going back. I have been back and forth from Australia for the past 3 years. Whistler is not a clicky place and it is very easy to make friends. Once you have a job and go out for a few nights on the town, you’ll have more friends than you know what to do with. The people who live there are all mostly broke and living off like $10 a week smile

I don’t know where you got your information from, but they are completely wrong. It’s an amazing place to be and there are may people that will say the same.

Let me know when your in Whistler and I will be sure to show you around and show you how much fun Whistler is!

Also make sure you get your phone and sin card done in Vancouver, we don’t have those facilities in Whistler. A good plan to go with would be a monthly plan with fido or virgin. Both you aren’t tied into a contract and it’s not pay as you go.

Thanks for the update, guys. I’m sitting here in Vancouver waiting for Michelle to get back home from brunch with the girls. I’m ready to pack the car and head up to the mountains. Shredding tomorrow, rain, hail, or shine - but hopefully snow. wink

jacs, I completely agree with Michelle. In my four seasons over there, I have never experienced any negativity from anyone in Whistler. Everyone is super friendly and we are all there for the same reason; to have fun and enjoy the mountains. If there is anyone like you described, it probably wouldn’t be worth being their friends anyway. It doesn’t matter when you arrive. I’m constantly meeting new people and Whistler always has new people coming and going. Honestly, it’s such an awesome place and I can’t wait to call it home once again.

Please get in touch with us when you arrive and we will make sure you have a nice circle of friends straight away. Don’t listen to the negativity, it honestly doesn’t exist. You are going to have the time of your life - guaranteed!
