Can ‘o’ Worms!!!!!!
Nothing.. I can sleep pretty easily on flights so long hauls have never been an issue…
yeah I don’t take anything either. but I as soon as I get on the plane, I either try and stay awake until I’d be close to be sleeping in my destination country, or go to sleep straight away if its night time there. That way you’re getting ahead on your jetlag and in the case of flying to europe where it takes me pretty much 23hrs to get to sweden, I’m nearly a day ahead of adjusting.
Also, being in economy, I try to sleep WITHOUT my chair reclined…then if I’m struggling to get to sleep, I use it as a last resort and then those few cms feel like heaven! (for a while anyway)
my husband just gets drunk on the free booze and then sleeps the whole second leg. haha
I can never get more than a couple of hours sleep on long haul flights… I hate them.
I’ve tried all the non-prescription stuff, but none were very good.
If you’re happy to go prescription only, then you can’t go past stillnox. It is the best on the market.
apart from the side effects haha
I am a shocking sleeper whilst travelling but my new weapon of choice is Phenergan (over the counter antihistimaines) and pretty much just trying to sleep after the meal is served.
No movies, no stimulation at all.
The phenergan doesn’t knock me out but i find the trying to sleep really helps with jetlag.
Ooh yeah oz, I’ve got some of that in the cupboard! (phenergan)... It’s fine just to bring in o/s on the plane? I might get on it for Japan!
I really don’t like flying - I find it hard to sleep… I took melatonin on the way to Mauritius but it made me feel a bit
Yeah i think so - i have never had a problem.
Australians know what it is and Japan never check!
Last time i went to Japan we took 12 bottle of wine and 3 bottle of spirits between the 3 of us…. when they sold it to us at duty free they were concerned about us getting into Japan. But the mates i go with go several times a year and always take a shite load of wine as Japanese stuff is shite and aus stuff is ridiculously priced!
I like to watch movies and get any alcohol they are offering
I fly sober, usually. Might have a bit of alcohol if I’m feeling too energetic.
Best thing for jetlag: melatonin. Over the counter and completely natural (your brain makes it daily). I usually take it when I arrive, at night just before bed. Take a decent dose (6 - 10mg) and put yourself to sleep at a normal sleeping time for the country you’re in. Jetlag should be gone by the morning. Repeat for another day if necessary.
Mizu as i was born in Croatia and i fly there almost every year or every second as you may or may know flight is about 26 hours, i don’t really take anything just watch movies and have some snacks lol ... that is about it, and chew some gum apparently its good for take off and landing but meh never really had any issues with that either.
I don’t take anything. Jet lag gets me every time, and I make regular trips across the Atlantic. Pretty much I try to stay up when I fly west, and generally adjust my clock quickly. Going east is much harder, I try to get a bit of sleep on the airplane, usually unsuccessfully, and just try to stay up until evening in Europe.
One easy solution is to fly biz class .
I can’t quite imagine what you Aussies have to go through, pretty much every flight is very long-haul, and going from AUS to Europe is brutal. I’ve done India and Middle East - US West Coast and that nearly did me in.
xanax is the bomb.. along with all the free alcohol you can get your hands on haha
although even with, i’d be lucky to get 1hr of sleep in.. it annoys me to see the other people around me sleep so easily, then i just get more frustrated and have less chance of sleeping.
Plus those greedy f**ks that claim the armrest as soon as you take your seats, once something like that happens on the plane there will be no sleeping for me. Instead I usually keep myself entertained by asking the stewardess for a bottle of water, then i dip my fingers in it and flick water onto the sleeping people.. so childish i know, but what else am i going to do for 10+ hours
