I’m a big believer of ‘if I’m broken, I can’t snowboard’ SO DON’T GET BROKEN!!!

Here is what I wear:
Helmet
Impact shorts
Knee Pads
Wrists Guards

I have broken or seriously injured everything in these areas. So why wouldn’t I wear them??

Remember, it’s not like skating. The only visible thing is the helmet. No one even knows that you’re wearing the other stuff.
So armor up peeps rocker

What knee guards do you wear Andy?  Are they normal skate style knee guards or more of a knee brace style?  I keep thinking about these things.

i use them too
mainly cause im kneeling facing up the mountain waiting for me mates alot

One problem with these, is the length of the leg!!!!!

Once you have them on you will either have to tuck them into ya boot, makin sure that there are no creases or that the hem isn’t too bulky, or leave them pushed up, which cuts off the circulation and puts pressure into the calf!!!!! Or get them adjusted so the cuff ends at the top of the boot!!!!!

I found that I had the same problem with my thermals that I got for last season!!!!!!

I’ve been thinking of getting something like this for big freeriding days.

The spine ergo is a lightweight back protector, with shoulder straps and a height
adjustable flexible waistband system for the best individual fit. The back plates
are made of polypropylene and have an inner shock-absorbing core made of
multi impact epp. Thanks to the air induction system that transports moisture
and lets fresh air flow in, it has great ventilation. spine ergo is the alternative if
you prefer to use a light weight hard shell protection with multi-impact shock
absorbing properties. sizes: XS-XL.

Mizu I have never had a problem with the cuff in my boots, I have worn Skins on warmer days and Burton AK thermal compression on colder days both with them inside my socks and never had a drama.  I find that if I am careful putting my socks on and make sure the cuff is flat I never think about it much less feel or am inconvenienced by it.  Everyone is different though I spose!

I guess they look like they’d protect everything from the waist down.

Jezza - POC make quality stuff. I have some of their gear for DH mountain biking and it’s a cut above the rest. I believe they even do a VPD back protector too. That’s the stuff that is soft until it’s impacted, then becomes solid. Pro bikers are using it in kneepads etc. It’s the same stuff as in the burton d3o impact shorts.

Oh, and Jeremy Jones (big mtn) is on POC this year, too. As if you needed more convincing!

I wish that they made somethin that can stop ya shoulder from poppin out though!!!!!!  long face

Mizu - have a chat to a sports physiotherapist. They do make braces that can significantly reduce the chance of a dislocation. Try to track down a physio clinic that treats a professional rugby/league/footy team. They custom make them.

Alternatively, speak to the same physio about taping your shoulder. I taped mine for 3 weeks when I rode in Japan. Basically 2 layers of strapping tape running from mid-chest to mid back. It wouldn’t have saved me in a big wreck, but if offered some stability temporarily. I was having surgery a month after returning from Japan and didn’t want to make it any worse. Ripping tape off a hairy chest isn’t pleasant, but it’s a shorter pain than dealing with dislocations. Tape can usually last 2 days of riding if you’re careful with it, so you could even have a physio strap you up for the weekend. (I self-taped, which is difficult, but doable)

There are options if you need em.

Helmet for sure. I wear mine most the time, even in Aus, especially in Parks. The time I dont, I ended uip with a bad head injury. teacherboy

This season in the park I started using a mouthguard as well. Teeth are so expensive to repair. Id hate to bite my tongue or lip on impact, and if you have a top bottom guard it reduces the chance of broken jaw, KO and concussion

Im actually considering these this year mainly because i want to take down some big mountain runs and I already wear knee pads but they piss me off because they move up and down, I also wanted to get a tailbone / butt protector and i was actually looking at this one http://www.xsportsprotective.com/azzpad-tailbone-protector.html but the problem is that is all it protects and that sucks soo this padded pants are sweet and look like they will do the trick one question how tough are the knee guards? I want to make sure they are made with some hard material not light foam or something the ones i got now have a plastic top portion that works very well.
