binders again
i bought some Nitro Raiden Zero binders for my new board a few months back. I didn’t know much about ‘em, but now it seems they are at pretty soft park-style binding. Given I’ve got a moderately stiff board (Signal OG) and boots (Nitro Team TLS), do you reckon that binding will cause problems? I can grab a pair of Burton Missions from T7 for about $220 on sale atm.. should I bother or will the Nitros be fine?

Stiff Binders on a Soft Board = Good
Soft Binders on a Soft Board = Good
Stiff Binders on a Stiff Board = Good
Soft Binders on a Stiff Board = NOT GOOD (Sorry Mud)
Missions are not that stiff from my experience with them, either!!!!! Maybe the newer ones are, and some of the Burton fans will be able to tell ya if that is the go with the current version!!!!!
heh bummer. I rad somewhere that the Missions are like a slightly down-specced version of the Cartels, so I thought they’d be stiffish.

just checked burton’s site, they give the Mission 6/10 “responsiveness rating” and Cartel 7/10. The Custom is 4/10.
anyway, not married to Burton and all ears for other suggestions eg. flux, union etc.
100% agree with Mizu. Sorry but I’m a big hater of soft bindings and stiff board. Missions are fairly soft IMO, prob mid range in terms of stiffness. The newer model may be a bit stiffer though.
I have just scored myself a pair of FLUX TT30’s and they feel stiff (Which is how I like them) on the initial carpet run!!!!!!
I also have FLUX Super Diamonds (Now called the DMCC) which are nice and stiff!!!!!!
FLUX SF45’s are also a goer!!!!!!
Can’t help ya with Union as I’ve never had a pair!!!!!! 
looking here it looks like Flux SF45 or DMCC might be the go - the TT30 is rated as medium flex. Jez - you got any SF45 or DMCC in stock?
I’m gonna suggest Rome Targas. Those are really good bindings. I used them last season, but this season I’m trying Union Contact Pro (still waiting for the to come).

Don’t go rushing to replace something you havent tested fully
crank up the forward lean on the binders till its uncomfortable then down it a notch
Maybe he can sell the unused Nitro’s?????
This money can then go toward the new binders!!!!!! Used Nitro’s = Less cash flow toward the new ones!!!!!!

I think you should test them first, but I still agree with Dan and Mizu. Soft bindings on a stiff-ish setup just doesn’t feel right. The whole purpose of a stiff board is so you can ride hard, get quick response, and put a lot of force through the edge. The soft bindings will work against you. Just my opinion.
If you want a stiffer binding, I’d step beyond the Missions in the Burton range. Step up to the Cartels at least. Personally, I love the CO2s which seems to have been replaced by the Diode.
The store is about to receive a shipment of all the new 2012 Flux bindings. Even if they don’t have exactly what you want, I can probably get it ordered for you. Let me know what you want and I’ll sort it out for you. Have a look at the Flux website and get back to me.

The OG is medium flex, but on the stiffer end of that range. I think it’s about a 6 or 7 out of ten. If you listen to AngrySnowboarder, he’d have you believe it’s a 6” thick slab of granite, but then he seems to be very park oriented.
The problem I have is that I get very few days per year on the snow, so I would like to get my set-up as right as possible before I go. I would probably keep the Raidens in case I manage to score a soft board for my quiver say end of next season.

don’t bother reading angry snowboarder or shay boarder or reviewers like that. Those reviews are 1)wack 2) you prob have nothing in common with those people, their riding style or the terrain they ride.
Like I said, you’re overthinking this. The bindings you have will ride fine on the board you have. If you were taking a trip to AK to ride some gnar then you might want to think hard about your equipment. Most bindings and boards fall in the mid-stiff category as that’s what most people want. Don’t put too much stock in a companies stiffness ratings out of 10 either.
Why don’t you strap in and jump around your living room? If you find that you can’t hold an edge on the linoleum then it must be because your bindings are a park binding.

which? the raidens? Nitro themselves say it’s a park binding, although they give it a response rating of 6, versus 9 for their carvey one and their freestyle binding is 7. Meh, confused as usual!
