Snow - Home Mountain

Avatar

Hey Girls,

Just wanted to find out where everyones home mountain is.

In the Northern Hemisphere my home mountain is Whistler, Canada. I love Whistlers terrain and have so many spots i love to ride that its hard to choose a favorite.

In the Southern Hemisphere it’s hard to choose a home mountain. While i was growing up i lived in Victoria and used to ride Mt. Buller every second weekend of the season. But now that I’ve been overseas for so many years and relocated to Sydney, NSW this year I’m going to have to wait till next season to decide if I’m a Thredbo or Perisher girl.

We’d love to be able to connect girl riders from around the world and orgainse some BOARDWORLD GIRL DAYS at your mountain. So let us know your HOME MOUNTAINS..

L.B.

oh well i also live in N.S.W in sydney and i definitely go perisher.
its more open and less trees, although you can go through tree trails. the favourite mountain is blue cow its just plain awesome.
no i have never been to an overseas/ outer state snowfield but i would love for you to give me some advise on how to get to whistler. being 16 now it has been my dream to go to Canada since i was 13.

please tell me how you did it and anything cool u want to add

this year at the snow i slipped on some ice and snapped my arm in half. the bone went through the skin…...not to mention that that was on the 3rd run 1st day out of a week of snowboarding. i was in hosp for 3 days and was devo. but when i went back to the snow i met torah bright my all time role model. i got my picture with her it was awesome.  LOL

ps my jacket is crap coz my awesome one was too small to fit my broken arm in
here’s the photo

ok cant figure out how to put photo on lol tell me and i will

Hey mini, welcome to Boardworld. smile

I’m sure the girls will have a lot of good advice for you, but just to point you in the right direction… all you need to get over to Whistler is a working holiday visa (check out: http://www.whpcanada.org.au/introduction.shtml) and enough money to get you settled. Having spent a few seasons over in Whistler myself, I can highly recommend the experience. You will want to keep going back im sure. wink

Also check out this thread with information about working in Canada: https://www.boardworld.com.au/forums/viewthread/359/

Feel free to ask any questions about going to Whistler in the Mountains and Travel section of the Forums (https://www.boardworld.com.au/forums/viewforum/9/)

Hey Mini welcome to Boardworld Girls Only..

I am actually from Whistler, Canada. I have been riding there for about 19 years now and I am still finding new areas I’ve never been before.

That really sucks about your arm, especially since it was so early in the season. I was out for a while the beginning of last season in Whistler because I tore my rotator cuff, so I feel your pain.

I have recently moved to Sydney for a while to live with my boyfriend but we will both be going back next season.

One thing I would recommend for going to Whistler would be to look for accommodation at least 6 months before you are planning on arriving.

I think you do have to wait until you are 18 to get a working holiday visa. But your nearly there!!!

If you have any questions feel free to ask.

Hey there,

Tambo from the dynamic duo, Tambazz calls Hotham home for SoHo, so many mountains to explore before we have a ‘home’ NoHo….........

Until this season I would have called Perisher my home mountain but out of the big two (perisher/thredbo) after one day at thredbo at the start of this season, I’m a convert!
I’ve only been there one day this season though & I’ve been to selwyn for 4 days cos of their rad $20 park pass deal. So sick!

I did a northern hemi winter in åre, sweden which was so damn fun!

aww wow thats so cool cheese

No, my home is not at the mountains :( .
I wish to go to mountains but my hectic life , I’m so busy to go anywhere. I would make my own home at mountains.

I would say my home mountain is Mt Buller. its a two hour drive which is always a drainer but i love it went up at least every second tuesday this season! although my favorite mountain in Aus would be Perisher! specifically Blue Cow so much fun to ride next season hoping to get a super pass to Hotham, Falls and perisher!
