Anyone’s fisherman?

Avatar

I’m always keen for a fish.  Will gut the thing and everything, but i don’t eat seafood whatsoever.
Still have to catch a Kingfish… that’s my immediate goal.

Caught these on a hand line and I used my Flipper horn to keep them on the bite!

Not really I had job as a deck hand on a barra boat. We were fishing the southern side of Blue Mud Bay 300km south of Gove in June 2000

This pike (Gädda as its known) is about 4.5kgs I think and easily the biggest fish I’ve ever caught!

I’ve grown up fishing, mostly surf and rock.
Done a little fly fishing and deep sea - I even was involved in competition for a bit.

I don’t know how many rods I have but it’s a good quiver (beach, boat, fly) a few reels. I wouldn’t say I’m keen, it’s just something I do whenever.

Biggest catch was 70kg of salmon fillets off the beach in one evening (before bag limits) and I carried it all on my back up a 5km bush track - dam those secrete south coast spots.

I’ve seen some of the most amazing things in my life while hunting fish.

Ha I remember chucky and I had talked about quiver - Chucky got many snowboard as I have so many fishing rods… grin

I learnt about Australian salmon, they show up in Gold coast every winter and I was told surf fisherman hates them and so nuisance they steal bait while they target tailors. Also they said salmon really not good eating!

70kg of salmon fillets must be killing your back…. gulp

I was much younger and was keen to show off the catch to mates.

Get your mates drunk enough and they’ll eat anything cooked on a BBQ.

We did filleted them that morning and we stacked 24 /10 kg boxes.  The following night we move about 10km and hit it big time. We manage 181 / 10kg and ( 1.8 ton of barra Fillets) in 6 hour. We let go about 50 40kg + mules that night because the freezer was full.

I was using one of those plastic squidgie lures, not scented or anything…actually I’m pretty sure my husband has had that lure since he was about 10.
