The Art of Flight - Sydney Premiere

Avatar

What a fun night it was at the Sydney premiere of The Art of Flight. It was held at the Sydney Opera House. Michelle and I were probably the first two people there; nothing to do with the excitement I was feeling all day. We chilled with a couple of beers and waited for Finney and Rhys to arrive.

Finally Travis arrived at the queue and Michelle had to calm me down. There was no signings at the Sydney premiere, probably due to the fact there were so many people. Not wanting to miss an opportunity to meet the man, I walked up to Travis, introduced myself and wished him happy birthday for last Sunday. I asked if Michelle and I could get a photo with him and he was only happy to oblige. I felt a bit bad interrupting his conversation with Lara Bingle, but hey, you gotta do what you gotta do.

The movie was unreal; the cinematography was amazing and the riding was incredible. I had high expectations for the movie and I wasn’t disappointed. Watching it on the big screen with Dolby surround sound was quite an experience (make sure you get to watch this at the cinema). I got the sense that everyone in the room was left inspired by this awesome movie. There were heaps of good parts from other riders including John Jackson, Nico Muller, Jeremy Jones, and many others.

Travis joined us again after the movie for a bit of Q and A. There were some funny questions and Travis made us laugh on more than a few occasions. Rhys asked him if he’s snowboarded in Australia before and if so, what did he think of it? Travis said he had an awesome powder day at Falls Creek in knee deep fresh (I guess he got lucky).

The after party was a lot of fun. It was held at Bar 100 on George St. There was an $8000 bar tab and the free drinks and food were going all night. We bumped into Travis again and we got a couple more slightly blurry photos (I think I need a new camera).

He wouldn’t do a shoey but these are for you Mika…

Such an awesome night I am so thankful for this opportunity smile Was too nervous to introduce myself to Travis at the start (and he was constantly talking to people). But after a few champers and such an awesome flick I just had to say hi and congratulate him.

Got a normal pic first….

Then asked him if he wanted to do a crazy pic, he said he prefers crazy pics, and after it was taken said he bets that his was better than mine then he kept going on about my “lazy eye”. HAHAHAHAHA such a funny guy. But yeah we had a good long chat about boarding and what not smile

Spotted this on the way in…

after party was fun (should not have eaten before hand)

THE MOVIE WAS EPIC! THE CROWD REALLY GOT INTO IT TOO!!!
