When car manufacturer Lexus announced it was working on developing a hoverboard, few were very excited. Previous forays into the hovering skateboard have been forgettable, or have turned out to be blatant viral marketing hoaxes, and there wasn't a lot of hope suggesting Lexus could do any better. We'll, here it is — the Lexus Hoverboard has officially arrived, and it's an interesting piece of kit to say the least. It hovers just a couple of inches above the ground, but appears to be genuinely manoeuvrable and fluid, unlike previous iterations of the hoverboard. This video shows it being used at a custom-built park designed to make use of the superconducting magnetic levitation technology the board employs, and from all accounts, it doesn't at all work in any other environment. However, this is at least a start, and we could be closer to a Back to the Future style hovering skateboard before we know it.
