Skate 4 is happening. I repeat, Skate 4 is officially being made by Electronic Arts.
At the end of its EA Play Live showcase today, the publisher announced 'one more thing' – and promptly unveiled the news that Skate 4 – which appears to simply be titled Skate – is currently in development.
While no gameplay footage was shown, a short interview with creative director Cuz Parry and head developer Deran Chung confirmed the wishes of every single skateboarder on the planet.
"We've been waiting years, honestly, to make the right game at the right time with the right idea, and I'm really, really pleased to say that we're here," Chung said. "It is really early, but it takes a little while to find Cuz, or wake him up."
The comment that it's 'really early', along with a lack of gameplay footage, suggests the game is still in quite early development – so don't expect anything too soon. After 10 years, though, we don't care if it's still a couple more before Skate 4 is a reality.
We'll keep you updated with news as it comes through. Try not to hyperventilate in the meantime.
