Plenty of snowboarders dream about road tripping through the European Alps, hitting the best park laps and pow runs the area has to offer. Jakob and Jesse Kennedy recently made that dream a reality, as they set off down the Autobahn and hit the abundance of shreddable terrain in Austria, Switzerland, France and Germany. This is one of those once-in-a-lifetime adventures, and the tour clip from Phootstep Films will have your feet itching and your secondhand stoke levels peaking.
From Jakob:
Shredding our way through the European Alps is something we've wanted to do for a long time. There's something refreshing about rocking up to a different country with just yourself, your gear, and no real clue about what will happen in the near future. You can plan all you like, but the best stuff always comes from the unexpected.
Twisting our way through mountain passes and valley floors, past farm houses that are older than Australia’s white history, was a pretty humbling experience. It was our first time doing a trip like this with so much travelling. Austria was the only place where we got to stop for a while and have a good look around for spots. From then it was a new place every few days. One day saw us travel through 5 countries – France, Switzerland, Liechtenstein, Austria and Germany – only to drive back to the Swiss boarder the next day to film.
Europe is a truly amazing place with so much so close. You can catch a train to a new country in a few hours, explore a new village every few kilometres and it's the only place I know of where you take your passport shredding with you. Snow is so much a part of their culture and traditions that, as someone who loves that environment, you can't help but feel at home.
