It's been a long time coming, but The Crescent Skatepark in Glebe is finally nearing completion, with the facility expected to open in the early days of 2021.
Planning began back in early 2015 thanks largely to the efforts of the Sydney Skateboard Association, and after the usual lobbying, public outcry, domestic disruptions and a last-minute change of contractor, the Federal Park space is expected to open to the public in January. And damn, is it looking good. With several recreations of classic Sydney spots – OG Cannonball manny pad, anyone? – the street plaza looks like one of the best we've seen in a hot minute. 2021 is kicking off the right way!
WHERE: The park is located at Federal Park Reserve on the Glebe foreshore, near the old mini ramp on the border of Annandale. The official address is 2A Chapman Rd, Annandale NSW 2038. It's near the Tramsheds.
WHO: The park was designed by Convic & JMD Design.
WHEN: The park is expected to open in January 2021, but nothing is locked in yet. Do not, under any circumstances, attempt to skate the park early. That ruins it for everyone.
Stay tuned for more info and expect news of an official opening in the very near future.
