Fanning Wins at Bells

A record fourth Bells win for Mick Fanning

It's official — Mick Fanning is the king of Bells Beach. The Aussie legend claimed his fouth Rip Curl Pro victory today, knocking off Brazilian Adriano De Souza in a tie-breaker final — the very first in world tour history, and one of the most exciting in recent memory. Fanning was in top form throughout the finals, also knocking off Jordy Smith and Nat Young on his way to victory.

Defending world champ Gabriel Medina had another disappointing event, knocked out in the quarter finals by De Souza. Other high-flying Aussies included Josh Kerr (3rd) and Owen Wright (5th), while the legendary Kelly Slater was unable to reach the quarter finals.

Fanning has now won as many Bells titles as both Kelly Slater and Mark Richards, often considered to be the two greatest surfers of all time. Not a bad effort. Enjoy the highlight reel.
