Update (24/5/20): Victoria has joined NSW with a plan to ease restrictions next month, paving the path for Victorian resorts to open this Australian snow season. "And for those eager to hit the slopes, the ski season will open slightly later this year on June 22," Victorian Premier Daniel Andrews confirmed in a press conference.
Original (20/5/20): After weeks of uncertainty due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the Australian snow season is officially going ahead — in NSW at least — confirmed in a press release by NSW Deputy Premier John Barilaro (full press release below). It's still unclear whether Victoria will follow NSW in allowing resorts to open in 2020. We're waiting on the details in regards to what capacity resorts will be able to open, however, this is certainly welcome news for Australian snowboarders. We'll keep you posted as more information becomes available.
“I’m very pleased to share that this means we will have a ski season this year, however, holidaymakers should be aware that ski resorts will likely need time to put COVID plans into place and you should contact before visiting.” — John Barilaro, NSW Deputy Premier
