There was a time in the not-so-distant past when spinning 360 degrees on a surfboard was considered practically impossible. Thanks to a crop of freakishly talented young surfers like Albee Layer, those once insurmountable boundaries have been well and truly smashed. Albee has taken it one step further with this latest move, though, notching a full backside 540-degree spin, rotating one-and-a-half times before reverting to ride away from a complete double rotation.
It's the kind of trick that almost doesn't look real, so surreal is the idea of launching and spinning off the lip of a wave so flawlessly. Albee makes it look like a piece of cake, but as he explains in the video, this one was a battle. Watch it above and prepare to be blown away.
